J. R. Clancy Promotes "Safe Sets" at LDI 2008 "Got safe sets?" That's the question that rigging designer and manufacturer J. R. Clancy, Inc., will ask this year at the LDI trade show and conference, October 20-26 in Las Vegas. LDI attendees can stop at Clancy's booth, #2504, at the Las Vegas Convention Center and choose from two free bright green buttons, printed in white with the words "Promote Safe Sets," or "Got Safe Sets?" "No matter what kind of rigging system a performance space may have -- counterweights, automation, a combination of the two or a customized system -- we can't emphasize enough that you're hanging heavy set pieces over people's heads," said Tom Young, J. R. Clancy's vice president of marketing. "We're taking a light touch with our safety message, but we're very serious about the need to do annual maintenance, train rigging operators to spot problems, and keep everyone in the theatre safe from rigging accidents." While visiting the booth, LDI attendees can see J. R. Clancy's PowerLift Automated Hoist with its outer cover removed to allow close examination of its dual-brake system and compact moving drum winch. They can also see a video of a PowerLift system in action in a theatre setting, and see the sleek, touch screen-operated SceneControl 500 motion control system.
