Atomic Design Sets the Stage for the Museum of the Moving Image

Atomic Design set the stage for the Museum of The Moving Image's 22nd annual black-tie Salute on December 3, 2006. The event was held in the Grand Ballroom of The Waldorf Astoria in New York City, where Will Smith was honored on a stage designed by Tom McPhillips, of Atomic Design Inc. This production marks McPhillips' second time as scenic designer for the show. The program was taped and will premiere on Bravo TV on January 12, 2007 at 8pm.

To create a sophisticated, elegant stage, McPhillips used the tufted panels, one of the newly released soft good products from Atomic Design. The 4'x 4' copper panels were linked together to create elongated columns, accentuated by fabric triangles and a center stage screen.

McPhillips chose the tufted panels for their elegance, versatility and hassle-free installation. Originally created for the set of a Jerry Lee Lewis television concert special, the panels made their debut as a rental product at the BizBash M&C Meeting and Event Style Show in New York on November 9, 2006. They are available for both rental and permanent installations.

The Museum of the Moving Image houses the world's most important film, television, and digital media collection. The Moving Image Salute raises funds to support the Museum's education programs, which serve more than 25,000 intermediate and high school students each year.

Will Smith is the Museum's 22nd Salutee and joins an exceptional group of former honorees, such as Robert DeNiro, Barbara Walters, Al Pacino, Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Tom Hanks, Robin Williams and Julia Roberts.
