GE Offers New Education Opportunities Through Learning Central

Distributors, contractors, consultants, specifiers, and OEMs are better equipped to learn in the months and years ahead thanks to GE Consumer & Industrial's new Learning Central, an initiative offering onsite learning via the GE Lighting and Electrical Institute, GE's Continuing Education Program (CEP) and GE eLearning, which offers on-demand courseware in a web-based learning environment featuring 24/7 online support.

"Learning Central is an easily accessible, one-stop source for optimal training-across electrical distribution and lighting-for the individual to achieve professional and personal success," says Mary Beth Gotti, manager of the GE Lighting & Electrical Institute.

The institute offers scheduled open-door conferences and customized conferences on request. The company's Continuing Education Program offers scheduled learning sessions for CEU and LEU credits, with accreditation by the International Association for Continuing Education & Training (IACET) and the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP).

GE eLearning features self-taught modules that let users learn more about electrical products, at their own pace, on their own schedule. The modules utilize easy-to-understand introductions to basic product information for new employees or quick refreshers for anyone. Online courses are added regularly but current basic courses include: Circuit Breakers, General Purpose Controls, Load Centers/Meter Centers, Panelboards, Switchboards, and Transformers.

Through the GE Learning website., users can take advantage of additional Learning Central program features and benefits including:

Instructor-led programs (NELA, NELA on the Road, and Continuing Education Program);
Course catalogs, authorization, class calendar and schedules, certificates and triggers;
Reporting section that allows customers to monitor (and export) enrollment and tracking of learning histories, employee course completions by individuals, locations and totals;
and, 24/7 support online or via toll free phone 9am-5pm EST, Monday through Friday. There is no charge for the Continuing Education Program (CEP) courses or eLearning classes. The GE Lighting & Electrical Institute's class fees are listed on the website.

Interested parties may contact Mary Beth Gotti, 216-266-2301 or simply visit the website below. GE Consumer & Industrial encourages customers to work with GE distributors to address wasteful spending on energy.
