Lighting&Sound America and InfoComm Announce Winners of 2008 Staged Events AwardsLighting&Sound America magazine and InfoComm International are pleased to announce the winners of the InfoComm/LSA Staged Events Awards 2008. LMG Inc. will receive the award for Best Overall Staging for a Corporate or Association Event - Technology Budget $50,000 - $199,999 for its work on the Autodesk One Team Conference 2007. One judge commented, "Appropriate for the theme and daring in its technological ambition, their use of video complemented the graffiti background and sport style theme 'Changing the Game.'" Advanced Staging will receive the award in the Best Overall Staging for a Corporate or Association Event - Technology Budget over $200,000 category for the Capital Campaign Kickoff. "The use of technology was effective without detracting from the event itself; I especially liked the hexagonal projection screen array. The lighting effects turned an otherwise standard tent gig into an elegant environment. This is an event I would have enjoyed attending," said one judge. The honorable mention in this category went to Alford Media for the Oklahoma Centennial Celebration. Freeman will receive the award for Best Overall Staging for Corporate/Industrial Entertainment Event for the Rotary Club International Convention. "This was simply a well-staged event on a grand scale. While I was awed by the sheer number of people involved as onstage talent, the technology did a good job of keeping the message intact," said one judge. Freeman will also receive the Best Use of AV Technology for a Trade Show Booth/Client award for its work on the BIO International Convention. One judge said of the project, "it created inspirational energy as guest gathered information about the event. 360-degrees of video rallied around the BIO Globe, informing guests while providing a strong central location for finding friends and associates." On Projecoes will receive the award for Most Innovative Use of Technology for an Outdoor Event, for its Christmas Tree 2007 project. One judge said, "This entry took a basic concept and made it come alive, creating a fun visual experience for an entire community." The InfoComm/LSA Staged Events Awards Judges were David Barbour, editor-in-chief of Lighting&Sound America magazine; Tom Stimson, MBA, CTS, president of The Stimson Group; Janne Mummert, director of business development, VER/Video Equipment Rentals; Jack Kelly, owner and designer of Eye Dialogue; and Bob Leon, president of Colortone Staging & Rentals.
