Stage Research Supplies Garland Independent School District with Extensive Array of Software

Stage Research has teamed with Romeo Music in Dallas to turnkey 162 workstations for the fine arts programs at the Garland Independent School District (Garland ISD). Stage Research provided a wide array of software, including its best-selling Light Factory, SFX, Soft Plot, TDI-Sound and TDI-Lighting, for the Omnirax computer workstations, which Romeo outfitted with scanners, monitors and desks.

"It's great to see Garland ISD embracing new technology and providing an educational environment that features industry-standard software and equipment," says Stage Research co-founder Carlton Guc. "Stage Research is dedicated to supporting schools and their students with real-world tools." Serving the communities of Garland, Rowlett and Sachse in the Dallas metroplex, Garland ISD will furnish the new workstations to its 13 middle schools and seven high schools; one of its elementary schools with a theater arts program will also receive a system.

George Jones, director of fine arts at Garland ISD, notes that the upgrade was made possible by passage of a bond issue, a portion of which was earmarked for fine arts technology. "We're thrilled about the Stage Research software," he says. "Some school districts are still back in the 1950's with the technology they use. How can you expect your students to go out and make a living in the arts when they've never been exposed to today's technology? We're proud of our commitment to provide students with what they'd find in the professional world."

Peggy Morales, senior manager at Romeo Music, gives kudos to the school district's investment. "It's our goal to provide 21st century learners with 21st century tools," she says. "Stage Research is the industry leader in easy-to-use software for the arts. It's ideal for Garland ISD's project-based curricula that helps students acquire real-world skills."

Stage Research software will reside on multiple workstations at each campus to meet the needs of classes in theater, dance and choir and piano and guitar labs. The purchase is supported by DVD training materials; additional onsite training for theater staff is planned for this summer.
