Set the Stage with New Vantis Pendant Controller

J.R. Clancy Vantis Pendant Controller

J.R. Clancy's Vantis Pendant Controller is the newest rigging motion controller from Wenger Corporation.

"This is part of our new generation of rigging controllers," says Patrick Finn, product manager for Wenger Corporation. "Vantis is the ultimate in flexibility, mobility, and safety for theatres and performing arts centers everywhere."

The first installation of the new Vantis is at Brevard Music Center in Brevard, North Carolina, in the 2,200-seat, open-air Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium. It is already making a big difference in the way director of production Andrea Boccanfuso prepares for performances.

"The Vantis pendant is intuitive. Its design is simple and functional, and the interface is easy to understand," Boccanfuso says. "Knowing our control system will perform as needed, time after time, allows me the freedom to focus on the artists and the music we're creating."

The Vantis Pendant Controller comes with a 30' (9.1m) cord which enables the operator to move around the stage and see the objects that are being moved overhead. Multiple connection points are available for remotely located areas.

Vantis offers simple control of up to eight machines. Each machine can be programmed with up to six targets including upper, lower and four intermediate targets. Selection of multiple hoists or machine types is easy, as is the ability to move them to a stored target simultaneously. With variable speed control of a single machine you can even create theatrical effects during production.

The 3.5" (89mm) color touchscreen provides real-time feedback on hoist status. The intuitive interface makes programming targets, configuring load sensing and adjusting speed incredibly simple. Finally, a hold-to-run "GO" button ensures safe operation.

Key Features
*Provides easy to use, intuitive operation, as well as ergonomic and ambidextrous design for both right and left-handed operators
*Controls up to eight machines
*Offers variable speed control of a single machine
*Includes up to six targets per machine; four are user recordable
*Ensures safe and easy operation of travelers and overhead hoists
*Multiple pin logins for multiple users and permissions
*Does not require commissioning

The Vantis comes with a number of built-in safety features. An emergency stop system and load sensing capability help protect your equipment and people on the stage below. Automatic alarms sound if an error or fault is detected. Password/pin protection allows access and recording capabilities only to authorized users. An illuminated GO button helps the user see the control in dim lighting and comes with a hold-to-run function which requires the operator to be at the controller when scenery is moving.

"Vantis makes moving hoists, scenery, and drapery easier and safer than ever, and adds another innovation to the suite of J.R. Clancy motion controls," Finn says.
