Bay Stage Lighting Celebrates New Year's Eve

On December 31 at 9pm Bay Stage Lighting turned on the lights at The Rooftop Eve 2011. A custom made 150' x 30' translucent tent was located on the rooftop of Timpano Chophouse, located in the heart of Hyde Park Village, Florida.

Greg Utley, the company's senior lighting designer, and his production crew began set up on the roof the week before the event, bringing just under 200 custom Philips Color Kinetics ColorBlast 12 Powercore LEDs; custom Liteputer 24-channel dimmers; ETC Source Four PARs, PARnels and Lekos; High End Systems Studio Color 575s, and Reel FX DF-50 hazers and a set of confetti blowers.

Utley noted that the tent was designed to have a Dancing with the Stars-type feel. Multiple 8' trusses lined the rear of the tent's stage, covered from end to end with Source Four PARs and ColorBlast LEDs and topped with a Philips Vari*Lite VL2500 Spot. The lighting illuminated performances by Vertical Horizon, Belinda Womack and DJ Papi. The tent's dance floor was surrounded by: VL2500 Spots, Studio Color 575s and truss topped with VL2500 Spots and covered with more ColorBlast LEDs.

"The Trans-Siberian Orchestra inside a tent," is how Utley described his lighting design.

Event committee members; Timpano Chophouse & Martini Bar, Elan Event Studio, Darin Bahl Events and Ken Walter Promotions, asked Bay Stage Lighting to contribute to the event's décor. The event benefitted the Gasparilla International Film Festival (GIFF). Five dollars of every ticket purchased went to GIFF.
