The Department of Theatre at Temple University celebrates more than 40 years of outstanding theater training and performance. Located on the northern edge of the Avenue of the Arts and just moments away from the heart of Philadelphia's thriving theatre community, Temple Theatres has established itself as one of the finest theater training programs on the east coast. We offer BA concentrations in Acting, Directing, Musical Theatre, Design/Technology, and Theater Education. MFA programs include Acting, Directing, Playwriting, and Design (Scenic, Costume, or Lighting).
Our 2007 original docudrama "In Conflict" traveled to the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe Festival in the UK, where it won the prestigious Fringe First Award. The show would later open to rave reviews Off-Broadway at the Barrow Street Theater in New York City, with our entire undergraduate student cast making their Off-Broadway debuts, and featuring the design work of several graduate students and faculty. More recently, in 2009, our original production of "SHOT! Requiem for a Bullet" was invited to perform at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
