Stage Technician Education and Development Intensive Offered by UNLV Continuing Education and Tour School, LLC

University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Continuing Education and Tour School, LLC will launch the Stage Technician Education and Development Intensive program (STEADI) June 22 to July 1, 2015, at Soundcheck Nashville. The 10-day program is designed to prepare candidates to meet the needs of employers seeking skilled labor for entry-level stage tech positions in live event productions.

Ed Wannebo, noted production manager (Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Hall and Oates), and Richard Cadena, Entertainment Technician Certification Program (ETCP) recognized trainer and author, will teach in the program along with other notable industry experts. The curriculum was developed after extensive interviews with industry professionals who identified attitudes and skills needed to begin a career in live event production.

"STEADI is a partnership between academic and professional settings," says Wannebo. The partnership between Tour School, LLC and UNLV Continuing Education delivers a curriculum in which participants learn and practice entry-level skills, terminology, basic concepts, values, and culture required by the complex discipline of live event production."

"Most people in our industry learn by trial and error," Wannebo goes on to say. "We're going to challenge the status quo and bridge the gap between education and experience in a real-world setting."

"We're taking small groups of students and training them the way production companies have been saying they want their entry-level employees to be trained," said Cadena. "It's going to be a blend of classroom training to provide the foundation of knowledge and hands-on training where we'll prep the gear, set it up, and work it like a live show."

For additional information or to register, visit the UNLV Continuing Education STEADI course website at www.ced.unlv.edu/steadi or call Jodi Gilliland at 702-895-5099.
