Hudson Scenic Studio Purchased

Hudson Scenic Studio, arguably the leading scenic fabricator for Broadway productions, has been purchased by Great Point Studios, the film and television production facility. Both are in Yonkers, New York.

The sale was first reported by Deadline.

In addition to building such Broadway shows as Plaza Suite, Hadestown, Hamilton, Six, Mrs. Doubtfire, and The Minutes, Hudson has also built the interior of the Drama Book Shop as well scenery for the HBO series Last Week Tonight, The Drew Barrymore Show, CMA Awards, the television production Annie Live!, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art's exhibit Camp: Notes on Fashion. Deadline reports the Neil Mazzella, who founded Hudson in 1980, will stay on as CEO.

Robert Halm, of Great Point Studios, told Deadline that he expects to triple Hudson's $30-milllion-a-year business, adding, ""And you will get the sets cheaper because we have a 100,000-sq.-ft. facility. We have the wood. We have the steel. And we can take it up to you the day before you need it."
