Winners Announced of Joseph Jefferson Awards

The Joseph Jefferson Awards, given to honor achievement in Chicago's professional theatre scene, were given on Monday, October 17. The design winners are:

Among the winners, Zuber's costumes for War Paint, about the makeup moguls Helena Rubenstein and Estee Lauder, will be seen in New York, when the production transfers to Broadway in the spring. Where Did We Sit on the Bus?, with sound design by the writer and star, Brian Quijada, recently concluded an acclaimed New York run. Shawn Sagady designed video for 2666, based on the acclaimed cult novel by the late Chilean novelist Roberto Bolano.

Multiple winners include Dreamgirls and The Tempest, with four awards each; West Side Story, with three; and 2666, Charm, Man of La Mancha, United Flight 232, and Where Did We Sit on the Bus?, with two each. Quijada, of Where Did We Sit on the Bus?, is the only individual to pick up two awards.

Ride the Cyclone, which took the award for director of a musical, will be seen at New York's MCC Theater in November and December, with Rockwell once again directing.
