Lasers Light Up the Stage for Rihanna, Chris Brown, David Guetta, and Lil Wayne at the 2012 GRAMMY Awards

The acclaimed performances at the GRAMMY Awards by Rihanna and Chris Brown (featuring David Guetta and Lil Wayne) were highlighted by striking laser effects.

Rihanna's rendition of her hit single "We Found Love" featured white laser light projected above the crowd. Behind the lasers was veteran special effects company Pyrotek and sister company Laser Design Production. The team at Laser Design Production used three 30W OPS laser systems positioned mid-stage. In addition they used four more 25W systems placing two on top of the video wall and the other two positioned on stage left and right. To control the laser projectors, they used Pangolin's awards winning LD2000 systems, inside of the QM2000.NET laptop box. The team used the LivePRO software from Pangolin to trigger laser cues "live" for the performance.

Chris Brown performed alongside David Guetta and Lil Wayne. In this tribute to the new style of electronic dance music, the artists used an array of green laser beam effects to capture the excitement and rhythm that the electronic style of music has brought to the music scene. The lasers for this performance were programmed and operated by Marty Canavan at YLS Entertainment. His programming produced multiple beam patterns and chases which complimented the upbeat and fast pace style of the music. Canavan created all of the programming using Pangolin's LD2000 System.

William R. Benner Jr., president and CTO of Pangolin Laser Systems, was at the 2012 Grammy Awards this year. Benner was quoted saying, "It is such an honor for us at Pangolin to see our control systems being used at amazing events like this year's Grammy Awards. We also would like to recognize the outstanding work done by our colleagues at Laser Design Production and YLS Entertainment, who take the tools we provide and make some of the world's best laser light shows. Our hats go off to them, and we are excited as more and more high-profile events are turning to lasers to add that 'wow' factor to the performance. These are all positive signs for the future."
