RCF LIVEPAD Mixers Receive Global Launch at NAMM 2014

In a break from its traditional loudspeaker roots, RCF unveiled the new LIVEPAD range of high performance audio mixers, making their global debut at January's NAMM 2014 convention in Anaheim, California followed by a European showcase at Frankfurt Prolight + Sound Show in March.

This seven-strong series of compact mixers, housed in elegant and stylish chassis, will provide more than enough flexibility for most live applications, where they will support everything from small combos and jazz quartets down to one man bands, as well as mixing corporate and conference room style events.

This series represents the first results of a strategic decison by RCF to create a mixer division. This will be supported by a substantial investment in R&D with a dedicated team of engineers providing extensive expertise in digital audio.

The seven consoles in the LIVEPAD series come both with and without effects, and are represented as follows:
LIVEPAD6 (six-channel)
LIVEPAD6X (six-channel with effects)
LIVEPAD8C (eight-channel)
LIVEPAD8CX (eight-channel with effects)
LIVEPAD10C (10-channel)
LIVEPAD12C (12-channel)
LIVEPAD12CX (12-channel with effects)

Each model is distinguished by audio quality, and by the presence of compressors in five of the models and internal multi-effects in three of the models all in a compact, ergonomic layout contained within a sleek, Italian designed chassis.

Careful attention and research have been devoted to the design of warm-sounding and transparent mic preamps. The compressors installed on the microphone channels of the RCF LIVEPAD mixers are highly intuitive, with a single knob that controls the threshold and compression ratio at the same time. The compressors also feature a very soft but effective action -- the result of a careful study of the parameters.

The three-band EQ on mono channels and the two-bands on the stereo channels are effective thanks to the correct choice of frequency and allow the user to process the input signal professionally.

LIVEPAD8C, 8CX, and 10C all rely on super-tested modular and 45mm faders while on the 12C and 12CX models 60mm faders are present. Finally, a sophisticated DSP takes care of the management of the internal effects: 16 presets are available in the compact LIVEPAD6X while LIVEPAD8CX and 12CX have a choice of 99 different presets.

The LIVEPAD mixer series inherits the RCF concept of "sound culture," and extreme care in the design and realization of circuits ensures sonic transparency, combined with an accurate dynamic and extreme versatility of use.

To ensure reliability, all LIVEPAD mixers undergo four extensive instrumental quality tests during construction. At the end of the production process they are tested again -- this time via a listening test -- and are given an aesthetic quality control test on order to guarantee reliability from a high quality, ergonomically designed product.

In addition to its aesthetics, the practical design ensures that the mixer can be grabbed, transported, and handled on site securely and with ease.

Finally RCF has also given careful consideration to optional accessories required in the modern era. To that end they have provided the facility to install an add-on board for the optional recording and playback of MP3 audio files. Files can be collected on a USB stick (up to 32Gb) and managed by a convenient, dedicated transport panel. A further optional Bluetooth card allows connection of devices such as smartphones or tablets to enable music to be played directly via the LIVEPAD mixer.

All mixers will be endowed with a practical and resistant transportation bag.
