4Wall DC Lights The Conservatory at MGM National Harbor

The Conservatory at MGM National Harbor.

MGM National Harbor opened its doors to the public December 8, 2016. 4Wall DC was tasked with lighting a signature amenity of the MGM National Harbor, a 15,000-sq.-ft. Conservatory that greets guests upon arrival.

The project came to fruition as 4Wall DC was on-site finishing an install with the resort's state-of-the art theater. "Since MGM enjoyed working with 4Wall for the theater lighting install, they chose to work with us again for The Conservatory project," said 4Wall DC's systems account executive, Stephen Wells.

The goals of the lighting design were to have a wash of light cover the stunning 85'-tall glass-topped atrium. This included lighting each pool where the flowers and décor trees are located.

40 Elation Professional Arena Par Zoom fixtures were utilized to wash the ceiling.

Martin by Harman MAC Viper Performance fixtures were mounted on the ceiling. They were used to highlight and add texture to the décor elements and flowers in the pools.

Martin RUSH MH 7 Hybrids also lit the décor and pools, except they were installed on the balcony wall within custom alcoves. "These fixtures were used to give a more direct focus onto the décor, rather than from above," explained Wells. "They really helped make certain items within The Conservatory and design pop."

"There is a daytime look and night-time look," explained Wells. "Each look called for a slight movement of snowflakes along the floor and the flowers in the three display beds."

"It was a pleasure to be a part of this project," said Wells. "Being able to light The Conservatory and bring the vision of renowned designer Ed Libby to life was a great opportunity for 4Wall."

Libby will share his expertise and artistic touch at MGM National Harbor with a series of seasonal displays through 2017.

The Conservatory at MGM National Harbor is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is complimentary to the public.
