Digico Squared Up For InfoComm With New D2-Rack

Digico's new D2-Rack, shown with two additional modules

InfoComm 2014 saw digital solutions manufacturer DiGiCo exhibiting with US distributor Group One Ltd., launching its new D2-Rack and announcing a number of new software features and an expansion of a third-party development project.

Previewed at the recent 2014 ISE and Prolight+Sound shows overseas, and designed to support and expand the Digico SD range's higher sample rate I/O solutions, the D2-Rack comes with either BNC or CAT5 MADI connections, allowing it to be used with a number of Digico consoles.

By using the latest converters found in Digico's SD Racks, the D2-Rack offers a more compact, efficient, and affordable rack solution for connection at either 48kHz or 96kHz with no I/O reduction.

The D2-Rack offers two I/O versions: The first features 48 mic inputs, 16 line outputs, and two blank output slots allowing an additional 16 outputs in the owner's desired format (analog, AES, and Aviom), while the second offers 24 mic inputs, 24 AES inputs, 16 line outputs, and two blank outputs, again permitting an additional 16 outputs in one of three formats.

The D2-Rack is currently available for use with SD8 and SD9 systems.

SD8 System: The D2-Rack updates an SD8 system with a 96kHz rack option. This allows the user to take advantage of the recent increases in the SD8's Stealth Digital Processing with a "no compromise" approach to 96kHz. A new system will be introduced that includes the SD8 surface with the D2-Rack with a system price advantage.

SD9 System: Following on from the success of the SD9 Rack Pack system Digico announces the launch of the SD9 D2-Rack system. This will be available with either rack option and will provide a more cost effective single rack solution.

"The D2-Rack means we are able to open up the full 96kHz potential of the SD8, SD9, and SD11 with this next generation of I/O conversion, which is an impressive upgrade," says Digico managing director James Gordon. "The D2-Rack allows users to get unrivaled audio quality at a total system latency of just over one millisecond. It was very well received at ISE and Prolight+Sound and saw a similar level of interest at InfoComm."
