Chauvet Professional's COLORdash Batten-Hex 8 Adds Punch to Linear Wash Fixtures with Six-Color LEDs

Chauvet Professional's COLORdash Batten-Hex 8

ChauvetProfessional's COLORdash Batten-Hex 8, featuring the company's advanced six-color LED technology, will set bold new standards for linear color wash fixtures. This 23" long (584mm) batten unit is powered by eight bright 10W "Hex" LEDs -- each containing red, green, blue, amber, white, and UV diodes on a single chip -- providing the ultimate flexibility in color blending, with no annoying multicolored shadows. Going beyond its exceptional color generating abilities, the COLORdash Batten-Hex 8's individually controllable LEDs can also produce pixel mapping effects, making it a versatile addition to any live production, concert tour, entertainment venue, or broadcast environment.

Wherever it's used, the COLORdash Batten-Hex 8's six-in-one Hex LED technology will allow it to change colors and adapt to its environment like a chameleon. Using DMX control or stand-alone color mixing, operators can create a rainbow of bright, saturated colors, or they can opt for more subtle pastels by blending in white. Full-bodied glowing tones and hard-to-attain yellows, oranges, and golds can also be produced by cranking up the amber. Featuring a color temperature range of 2,800K - 10,000K, the COLORdash Batten-Hex 8 can also dial up any desired shade of white, from cool daylight to the warmest tungsten. In total, when in its most basic control mode, the company says the unit can produce almost 275 trillion color combinations!

Perhaps the COLORdash Batten-Hex 8's most striking feature according to the company is the inclusion of UV in its LEDs, which allows it to create looks that are totally unique; when UV is combined with any of the other hues, it will yield shimmering iridescent colors that are unattainable with standard RGBAW fixtures. For the ultimate versatility, the COLORdash Batten-Hex 8 can also function as a straight ultraviolet light, eliminating the expense and inconvenience of carrying separate UV fixtures in rigs and rental inventories.

"This is one color wash batten that can truly do it all, thanks to our new Hex LED technology, which combines six different color diodes under one lens," said Michael Graham, product manager for Chauvet Professional. "The COLORdash Batten-Hex 8 can produce any color a designer could possibly imagine. Plus, adding in UV takes the color blending to a whole new level of awesome -- you get colors with unbelievable eye-popping punch. You can also use the COLORdash Batten-Hex 8 to generate any shade of white or as a UV light, so you may actually be able to reduce the number of fixtures on your rig. With 255 levels of each LED color, in eight-bit mode it's possible to generate nearly 275 trillion color/level combinations, and in 16-bit mode a mind-boggling 75.6 octillion combinations -- that's the number 75 with 27 digits after it!"

"If that's not enough," added Graham, "you can also run pixel mapping effects through the COLORdash Batten-Hex 8. So, you can create exciting animated visual displays at productions, concerts, special events, and nightclubs, beyond using it as a wash fixture."

The COLORdash Batten-Hex 8 maintains an even pixel pitch when used in multiples, making it great for building larger displays, either stacked in an array or lined up end-to-end. An optional CBB6 bracket allows for fast construction of arrays, while industry standard Neutrik powerCON input/output connectors and three- and five-pin DMX in/out provide easy power and data linking. Up to 11 COLORdash Batten-Hex 8 units can be linked at 120V, and 20 units at 230V.

Ideal for users with a variety of experience levels, the COLORdash Batten-Hex 8 comes with built-in automated programs for operation as a plug-n-play fixture, and also features a large choice of DMX profiles (three-, six-, eight-, 12-, 13-, 48-, 53-, or 96-channel) for simple-to-complex programming versatility. Four distinct dimming modes enhance its design flexibility.

Emitting 656 lux brightness at 5m, the COLORdash Batten-Hex 8 features an electronic strobe with a variable rate of 0-20Hz, a 20-degree beam angle, and 30-degree field angle. Flicker-free and silent running, it is virtually maintenance-free, with LEDs rated at 50,000 hours under normal operation. Ruggedly built to withstand road and touring applications, the CE and MET-certified fixture is also very lightweight (6.8lb / 3.1kg) for easy transport and installation. Each unit measures 23" x 3.1" x 7" (584 x 80 x 177mm).
