A&O Technology Launches Falcon Spelia Range

The sulphur-plasma luminaires of the Falcon Spelia series mark a revolution in lighting technology, says A&O Technology. With an operating life of up to 50,000 hours and up to 165lm/W, Spelia combines cost-effectiveness with environmentally friendly qualities and versatility. Falcon Spelia lighting systems are suitable for a wide range of locations, including architectural installations, greenhouses, streets, places of entertainment, factories, offices, and even residential buildings.

A&O Technology's in-house manufacturing division, alpha one GmbH, has developed a marketable sulphur-plasma lamp series that comes closer to natural sunlight than any other artificial light source, but with a UV content of less than one per cent. With a power consumption of 1,000W, the lighting output of Spelia systems is equivalent to that of a 3,000W xenon lamp, the company says.

"A&O Technology is already today offering market-ready solutions. Based on this mature technology, we can develop and manufacture different types of lamps--and even do so on a customer-specific basis to meet special challenges of all kinds," says Marco Niedermeier, the CEO of A&O Technology and alpha one.

Inaugurating the Falcon plasma range are three product types: Spelia Arc, Spelia Green, and Spelia Shot. Each specializes in a particular field of application and all are market-ready and available now. The official launch took place at this year's Light+Building trade fair in Frankfurt am Main, where the first product types and their versatility were demonstrated.

The Falcon Spelia Arc was specially conceived for outdoor architectural lighting. Falcon Spelia Arc white is designed for fixed installation in the context of XXL architectural lighting projects. A choice of lenses is available for this DMX-controlled system. A model with a color-changer is set to follow shortly.

The Falcon Spelia Green was developed for greenhouses. By imitating the continuous spectrum of sunlight, this lighting fixture encourages photosynthesis in plants. The Falcon Spelia Green is specially adapted to greenhouse conditions such as high humidity and delivers homogeneous surface illumination, the company says.

The Falcon Spelia Shot is a sulphur-plasma lamp designed for use in the film industry. Its strengths are the avoidance of light scatter and its flicker-free light, the spectrum of which is similar to that of the sun, the company says.
