PRG's Lighting Division Launches the Best Boy Wash at Prolight + Sound

PRG's Best Boy Wash luminaire

Production Resource Group, L.L.C. (PRG) will introduce the new PRG Best Boy Wash luminaire at the Prolight + Sound trade fair in Frankfurt March 12 - 15, 2014 and will be available for demonstration in Hall 11, Stand E28. The PRG Best Boy Wash luminaire is a feature-rich wash light that the company says fills a gap in the market.

With the award-winning Best Boy 4000 Spot and the Bad Boy luminaires, PRG adds to its line of high-performance automated lights with the introduction of the PRG Best Boy Wash luminaire. Ideally suited for a wide range of entertainment and event applications, this new PRG luminaire opens creative possibilities for designers in television and film, concert touring, theatre, special events, and more. In combination with PRG's global team of lighting experts, the PRG suite of luminaires and control systems deliver solutions to meet the demands of any event.

"It was clear that there was a need in the market for a next generation wash light," said Chris Conti, product manager for PRG's luminaire product line. "Working closely with our customers, we created a wash light that is unrivaled in its versatility and performance."

The Best Boy Wash is precision-engineered with input from leading lighting designers from around the world for unprecedented fast and meticulous movements. This new wash light features a 1,500W arc source that generates 60,000+ lumens of light output, far brighter than any other available wash light in its class. The quick 6:1 zoom optics system allows for smooth, continuous adjustment of the beam from a very narrow 10-degree spread to an extra wide 60-degree flood, all while maintaining its intense output. With a beam size iris, that works hand-in-hand with the 6:1 zoom, the Best Boy Wash offers unrivaled beam versatility in a single automated fixture. The Best Boy Wash uses a glass precision gray-scale dimmer for smooth dimming as well as a separate strobe mechanism for added effects. Also, the Best Boy Wash includes a rotating, indexable gobo wheel with four wash gobos to add effects to the user's wash beam.

Like the Best Boy 4000 Spot, the Best Boy Wash produces an even, clean white beam with no green tint or hot spots, which allows designers to start their color mixing from a clean slate. The Best Boy Wash CMY color-mixing system offers strong, saturated colors as well as a wide array of tints and lighter hues. It also has a five-color fixed wheel, which includes a superior UV filter for blacklight effects. Optimized for television and film applications, there is a dedicated minus green filter and a unique color temperature wheel that allows designers to vary color temperatures down to 3,200K and up to a very cool 8,000K. The color temperature wheel, paired with the minus green filter on the fixed color wheel, is ideal for on-camera lighting.

The PRG Best Boy Wash luminaire will be on display in stand E28, Hall 11 at Prolight + Sound where visitors can get a demonstration of the Best Boy Wash along with the rest of PRG's family of products.

PRG's Best Boy Wash luminaire is available to be purchased or rented directly from PRG or PRG preferred partners.
