H.A.S. Productions Expands Powersoft Inventory

H.A.S. Productions used its Powersoft K3, K10, and K20 amplifiers on July 20 show by Sister Hazel and Tonic, part of the Rock of Vegas series of free concerts at the 1st Street Stage at the Fremont Street Experience in downtown Las Vegas.

H.A.S. Productions, based in Las Vegas, Nevada, has acquired 12 Powersoft K3 KAESOP amplifiers to drive a monitor system comprising Adamson M15 and Radian Audio Apex wedges. The company is already using 30 Powersoft K10 KAESOP and K20 KAESOP amplifiers to power a main rig of EAW KF740 line array modules and SB2001 subwoofers.

According to Larry E. Hall, Jr., president, H.A.S. Productions, the original decision to purchase Powersoft's K Series amplifiers came as the result of their unanimous selection during listening tests of three different brands. "After very close listening comparisons with the other top two competing DSP-based amplifiers we found the Powersoft amps were much smoother on the high end, 'thumpier' on the low end, and not nearly as 'honky' on the mids," says Hall. "With several people here for the three-way 'blind' shootout, every single person choose the PA stack that was powered by K10s and K20s over the other brands."

As a result of the shootout, H.A.S. Productions purchased 20 K10 KAESOP amplifiers to power a main system of EAW KF740 line array modules and 10 K20 KAESOP amps for the system's EAW SB2001 subwoofers. Most recently, Hall acquired an additional 12 K3 KAESOP amplifiers to drive one of his company's monitor systems.

"I have always prided myself on being hip on amp technology," continues Hall, who has been searching for the optimum amplifier for a long time. "I have gone through several amp changes over the past seven years, trying to find a brand that just blows me away -- and here it is." Although he had previously shied away from the 1RU digital power amplifier form factor when considering alternatives, he adds, the Powersoft K Series proved to be the best amplifier for the job: "I have never had so much headroom on a PA."

All of the two-channel, high-power K Series amplifiers are outfitted with Powersoft's proprietary AESOP (AES Ethernet Simple Open Protocol) networking capabilities. H.A.S. Productions manages the racks, which each house four, six, or eight channels of K Series amplification, using Powersoft's Armonía Pro Audio Suite software via the KAESOP Ethernet/AES3 interface in all monitor applications and for some KF740 set-ups.

H.A.S. Productions' Powersoft amplifiers, including the newer K3s, are being used on the Rock of Vegas free concert series on the 1st Street Stage at the Fremont Street Experience in Downtown Las Vegas. The series kicked off on Memorial Day weekend with Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil and continues throughout the summer with bands such as Fuel, Hinder, Everclear, Three Days Grace, Third Eye Blind, and Puddle of Mudd.
