The Long Reach Long Riders Complete their 13th Annual Charity Ride

The Long Reach Long Riders announce the tremendous success of their 13th annual charity motorcycle ride. The ride, which was dubbed "The Radioactive Ride," by ride marshal Loren Schreiber, raised over $45,000 for Behind the Scenes and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, bringing the total raised since the LRLR rides began to well over $550,000.

The ride, which began and ended in Las Cruces, New Mexico, featured stops at the Santa Fe Opera; Roswell; Los Alamos; Canyon de Chelly; the worlds largest concrete pistachio in Alamogordo, New Mexico; and Four Corners, where Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah all meet. The riders experienced an ever-changing terrain as they traveled through arid desert, vast treeless plains, alpine meadows, and mountain forests. They rode through ranch land, farm land, and "nothing will ever grow here" land, all the while using kazoos to promote the ride and raise awareness of the work being accomplished by Behind the Scenes and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

"Well. That was fun," noted Schreiber.

Some statistics for the 2016 ride include:
Total number of miles ridden: 2,084
Most number of bikes on any one day: 26
Largest bike on the ride: 2009 Victory Vision
Smallest bike on the ride: 2015 Yamaha r3
Number of bikes that ran out of gas: 1
Temperature range for the ride 55-degrees F/13C - 110-degrees F/43C

Donations for the 2016 ride are being accepted until June 30th.

Drew Wending, ride marshal for the 2017 LRLR ride, has announced that Southern California will be the location for the ride and it will take place in mid-June. Please visit the URL below for updates on the 2017 ride, to join the ride, or to make a donation.
