Hemsley Lighting Programs Announces Internship, Mentorship Recipients

The Hemsley Lighting Programs announces that Anthony Forchielli is the recipient of the 2019 Hemsley Lighting Internship and Ranleigh Starling has been accepted into the Hemsley Mentorship Program.

Forchielli is currently completing his MFA at Northwestern University and will begin his intern experience in mid-July with San Francisco Opera. In the fall, the internship transitions to working with Alvin Ailey at City Center and concludes with New York City Ballet's winter season in 2020.

Starling is currently completing her MFA at the University of Washington and will start her mentorship experience with Paul Miller and Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera. In the fall, she will continue the mentor program by working with Mark Stanley, resident lighting designer at New York City Ballet and Al Crawford, CEO and president of Arc3Design.

According to a statement from the program, "We are excited to be able to offer these two young designers unique opportunities as they transition from their academic work to their professional careers. Now in it's 36th year, the Hemsley Lighting Programs honors the legacy of Gilbert Hemsley, who dedicated himself to providing practical experiences for the next generation of lighting designers. "Thank you to 4Wall Entertainment Lighting, ETC, Rosco, the Jerome Robbins Foundation, our media partner Lighting&Sound America, and our many individual supporters; and to John Chenault and Wendy Cohen for their support in the creation of the mentorship initiative."
