Elite Multimedia Productions Adds Elation Cuepix LED Blinders to Inventory

Nashville-based Elite Multimedia Productions has added 50 Elation Professional Cuepix LED Blinders to its inventory with the intent to move towards a more eco-friendly option for audience illumination and effect. The purchase comprises 30 Cuepix Blinder WW2 and 20 Cuepix Blinder WW4 fixtures.

Among the advantages in switching from traditional blinders to LED blinders, power savings and cable needs were two important factors for Elite when making the decision to purchase the Cuepix Blinders, as well as the ability to contain more than one fixture to the same circuit.

"The WW2 and WW4 simply don't need what traditional blinders need," says Jason "Cannonball" Jenkins, head of lighting at Elite Multimedia Productions. "These fixtures eliminate the need for traditional dimmers and cut down on the amount of cable needed, which in turn uses less power and less copper, while maintaining the incandescent look that most LD's love and demand. And having dimming in LED form and onboard the fixture saves me truck space and nearly eliminates the need for dimming."

The Cuepix Blinder WW2 and WW4 are designed for adding high-impact white light to productions of all types. They house 2 and 4 long-life 100W warm white 3,200K COB LEDs respectively for a bright, high-density output. Both models feature individual pixel control as well as preprogrammed effects macros.

Elation dealer Freed Sales played a vital role in choosing the fixtures. "Dustin Pesnell and his team at Freed Sales made themselves available to us as much as needed in order to find solutions to efficient audience lighting, as well as several other solutions that the Elation product line helps serve," Jenkins says.

Elite Multimedia will initially have the Cuepix Blinders out on country music artist Luke Bryan's 2015 Kick the Dust Up Tour with lighting design by Justin Kitchenman. Elite Multimedia, which serves as video/LED and lighting provider for the tour, also sees a niche for the Cuepix Blinders on small and mid-size shows because of their low power requirements.
