Hudson Scenic Studio, Inc. Expands Ownership

Neil A. Mazzella, co-founder and president of Hudson Scenic Studio, Inc. based in Yonkers, New York, has announced that he has partnered with Neil O'Connor and Corky Boyd in the ownership of Hudson Scenic effective immediately. Mazzella will take on the duties of chairman, O'Connor will be the new CEO, and Boyd will be senior vice president overseeing project management and sales.

O'Connor, formerly the COO and CFO of Hudson joined the company in 2009. He has over two decades of financial and operational experience both here and abroad in a variety of industries of varying size. O'Connor holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Boyd has been with the company for over 20 years and has been instrumental in developing the Hudson Motion Control system that powers many shows on Broadway. A graduate of the Yale School of Drama and Northwestern University, Boyd has managed a wide range of projects at Hudson including the Times Square Ball, Disney's The Lion King on five continents and numerous shows for industrial and film clients.

Hudson was founded by Gene O'Donovan and Neil Mazzella in 1980. O'Donovan left in 1994 and has continued on Broadway running Aurora Productions, a leading technical management company in the entertainment industry.

Hudson currently occupies 125,000-sq.-ft. in Yonkers and has 120 employees.

Hudson Scenic has grown to be the leading supplier of scenery in the commercial theater in New York City and on the road. "Continuing on into the 21st century requires enormous expertise in business management, finance, and technology," says Mazzella. "My new partners bring all of that and more to Hudson. I will continue to focus on the growth of the company and they will be instrumental in running, managing, and guiding the company both in the day by day details as well as planning its technical and business future."
