D.A.S. Aero Series 2 Delivers Powerful Sound at Viña Rock

D.A.S. Audio Aero Series 2 line array systems were back in action this year at the 12th Annual Viña Rock Native Art Festival in Villarrobledo, in the province of Albacete, in Spain. Over the course of the four day festival more than 200,000 spectators descended on Villarrobledo to enjoy the explosive line-up, which included the likes of Barricada, Ojos de Brujo, Rosendo, Huecco, and the legendary Barón Rojo.

Local company Acústica -- working closely with D.A.S. Audio -- headed the sound installation. The team opted to install D.A.S. systems on the two main stages, Legendario and Villarrobledo. Because of the stages' side-by-side set up and their alternate use, sound technicians decided to install the sound for both stages in a rarely used configuration, setting up a central formation to be "shared" by both stages. Thus the Legendario stage left PA formation was the right PA formation for the Villarrobledo stage during its alternative use.

Acústica deployed a total of 36 large D.A.S. Aero 50 line array systems for the main PA equipment. These systems were distributed in three linear formations made up of 12 systems each, in a L-R configuration, with the unique "shared" central formation feature. With regard to the essential low frequency reinforcement, the team opted to use 36 D.A.S. high performance self-powered LX-218A subwoofer units, ground stacked in front of the stages in a cardioid arrangement.

With the control station set up 40m from the stages, the team decided to install two relay towers 55m out to cover the 125m long listening area. Each tower was equipped with eight large-format D.A.S. Aero 50 line array systems. Ten self-powered D.A.S. Convert 12A units carried out front fill work.

The different groups and artists that performed at this year's Viña Rock were backed up by four self-powered LX-218A subwoofers plus six Aero 12A self-powered line array systems, which together provided side fill. New self-powered D.A.S Road 12A and 15A stage monitors were on hand, distributed throughout the stages, in order to cover the different needs of the artists' musical configurations.

The new Action 12A self-powered systems from D.A.S. played a key role in the Viña Rock sound system installation. These units were set up on tripods in front of each stage and provided sound to the front audience rows. Spectators in these seats could thus enjoy their favorite artists with powerful, resounding and clear sound (despite the inclement weather), provided once again by D.A.S. professional audio systems.
