GLS Makes Massive GLP Investment

Ian Turner with some of the new GLP inventory purchased by GLS Lighting.

GLS Lighting in Southampton, UK, part of the HSL Group family, has made a significant investment in over 200 new fixtures from German Lighting Products (GLP) ... adding to its already extensive hire inventory in the South UK region.

The new equipment will be based at and available from GLS's facility -- conveniently around one hour from the M25 London ring -- and will also be available from all the HSL equipment banks across the UK and Ireland -- currently Blackburn, Belfast, and Dublin -- in addition to Southampton.

"The large investment is a direct result of increased trading during the first half of the year, and a strong order book taking us through into 2017," states GLS's Ian Turner.

The new GLP stock will be added to the existing ranges of Robe, Martin by Harman, Philips Vari-lite, SGM, and Chauvet Professional, adding to technologies that now include Robe's BMFL and DL4 ranges, Martin Vipers and their Quantum range of LED moving lights, SGM's G-Spots, and another new addition -- Philips Vari-lite VL1100s.

Says HSL's Simon Stuart, "I have every confidence in the choice made by Ian and his team and feel this will set them apart from the rest of the Group as they start to build and increase their rental business with GLP."

The investment covers the entire GLP X4 range from the smallest X4S which has the widest zoom range of any similar sized fixture, and is compact and extremely punchy.

The impression X4 is a "no-brainer" being one of the most popular fixtures on the US circuit these days. It has an excellent output, a nice looking lens configuration, and is a real workhorse.

The larger impression L and XL fixtures complement the rest of the range, giving even more output ... and, the company says, proving there really is a fixture for any application.

The X4 Bar range -- which just won the ABTT "Lighting Product of the Year" catching the judges' eyes for innovation and style -- is included in the purchase. Offering more lights per metre and boosted output, these further augment the creative toolbox available from GLS with X4 Bar 20 and Bar 10 high performance LED battens.

"GLP has always been an innovative brand" states Turner, "the original impression 90 was one of the first widely used moving LED wash lights, and as a brand they have always stayed ahead of the game. These newest fixtures continue the trend."

He explained that holding the GLP stock in Southampton is a strategic move, with GLS aiming to be the "go-to" company in the Group for GLP. They also look forward to increasing the initial investment in coming months.

"We're really excited about adding GLP to our hire stock Turner concludes. "There is a lot of industry buzz about these products which we know are robust, well-engineered, and complement our existing ranges and brands perfectly."
