PLASA Focus Returns to Texas This September

Free registration is now open for PLASA Focus: Austin 2014. Taking place at the Palmer Events Center September 9 - 10, this will be the second time PLASA Focus has returned to Texas since the launch of the event series in North America in February 2012.

PLASA Focus provides visitors with the opportunity to check out the latest products from some of the biggest names in entertainment technology. Companies already signed up to exhibit include: d&b audiotechnik, Chauvet Professional, TMB, Altman Lighting, Drape Kings, Harrington Hoists, Lightronics, Elation Professional, and Big House Sound, among many others. With many other applications being processed, companies interested in exhibiting are advised to move quickly to secure a spot.

Running alongside the exhibition is the PLASA Professional Development Program which offers attendees free access to seminars. The program includes talks from some of the industry's leading talents who will discuss the latest trends, technologies, and techniques, and is an opportunity for visitors to further develop their knowledge and take part in discussions.

Scott Chmielewski deployed the largest network of media servers ever assembled at the Beijing Olympic Opening Ceremony, and since then has worked on projects for big names including the Latin Billboards, Maroon 5, and Phish. In "Mastering the Art of Video" Chmielewski will share his vision for the future of the industry and technologies.

In "Real-time 3D Maping with AViary and Hippotizer Video Tools and Media Servers," Geoffrey Platt, product training specialist at TMB, will demonstrate how Aviary and Hippotizer are changing the way we think about and control 3D projections with components such as RegionMapper, PixelMapper, VideoMapper, and UberPan.

"Vectorworks for the Technical Director," presented by Frank Brault, industry product specialist at Nemetschek Vectorworks, will illustrate the typical workflows of technical directors as they use a scenic design model developed in Vectorworks Spotlight to create construction drawings, quantify takeoffs, and budget estimate.

Sooner Routhier is the lighting director for Bon Jovi and production designer for KISS and Mötley Crüe. In "On the Road / Off the Road," Routhier will share her secrets on how to stay employed in the live event production industry, staying healthy on the road, and how to find the work that you love most.

PLASA members, regional dealers, regional production companies, and "series" exhibitors enjoy substantially discounted space at all PLASA Focus events. Each event targets a unique regional audience that does not travel longer distances to national industry events and, in addition, PLASA Focus limits the amount of space that exhibitors can take and provides a unique hard wall booth package -- including material handling, power, lighting, carpet, and furniture -- so that each exhibitor enjoys a level playing field and a hassle-free, affordable exhibiting experience.

Further information about the Professional Development Program, training opportunities and out of hours events will be announced in the coming weeks. Those interested in attending are advised to register for free at www.plasafocus.com/austin to receive the latest news and to sign up for seminars.
