Broadway Green Alliance's Fall Textile Drive Set for September 14

The Broadway Green Alliance (BGA) is sponsoring a textile drive on Wednesday, September 14 from 11:00am - 2:00pm in the center of Duffy Square (46th Street between 7th Avenue and Broadway in Times Square). The event will take place rain or shine.

The collection drive is open to all shows, theatres, industry members, neighbors, and fans in a collaborative effort to keep textiles out of the landfill and create a more sustainable theatre industry. Through these drives, the BGA and theatre community have diverted over 17,000 pounds of textiles from the waste stream.

The BGA is partnering on the drive with Wearable Collections, a NYC-based company focused on keeping clothing, textiles, and shoes out of landfills while generating funds for charities. Wearable Collections will repurpose or recycle the items collected. The BGA can accept used and clean clothing, shoes, curtains, hats, linens, towels, handbags, and belts. The BGA cannot accept pillows, comforters, rugs/carpets, large luggage items, other household goods, and fabric/fabric scraps.

This Fall Textile Drive is made possible thanks to sponsor, InCord.

Please visit the link below for additional information on the BGA's in-office recycling collections and Binder Project, and to access the free sustainable theatre resource library.
