Bespoke Technology Group and 1 SOUND Team Up on Dallas Restaurant EVELYN

Bespoke Technology Group and 1 SOUND have installed a sound system in EVELYN, a newly opened steakhouse and lounge in Dallas' Design District. Inspired by Taylor Jenkins Reid's bestselling novel The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, the glamorous venue features seven unique rooms, each with its own distinct atmosphere.

Instead of following the traditional route of working first with an integrator, Reach Hospitality, the ownership group behind EVELYN, contacted 1 SOUND directly with a clear vision for its audio solution. 1 SOUND then connected the team with Bespoke Technology Group, who partnered with 1 SOUND's CEO and lead audio designer, Lou Mannarino, on the project.

"From the very first meeting with the owners and Lou, it was clear that every aspect of EVELYN was being built around having the greatest sound possible," says Phil Ayache, president, Bespoke Technology Group. "The materials, the finishes, even the way the rooms were constructed -- it was all done with acoustics in mind."

Each of the venue's main spaces required a unique approach. The dining room, designed for live piano music, was outfitted with 1 SOUND's FSUB45 floor subs and Cannon C6 loudspeakers, with the intention of creating a refined yet powerful listening environment without overwhelming the intimate space.

The primary bar, in contrast, was designed for high energy and late-night crowds. To achieve this, Bespoke installed an array of C6 loudspeakers supported by eight SUB310 subwoofers, ("One of my favorite products from 1 SOUND," mentions Ayache.) The challenge came when interior designers expressed concern about the placement of subs near furniture or on the floor. The solution was to recess the subs into the ceiling -- a move Ayache calls both practical and visually seamless.

"We spent a long time ensuring that everything was perfectly plumb and level with the ceiling," Ayache explains. "The end result looks incredible and sounds even better."

EVELYN's interiors required audio equipment that could match the venue's luxurious aesthetic. 1 SOUND's Custom Shop, led by Julia Mannarino, worked with designers to ensure the speakers blended into their surroundings. Finishes included seven custom colors, fabric grilles that matched velvet wall coverings, and even bronze metal grilles for added elegance.

"Companies like 1 SOUND are few and far between," Ayache says. "Their customization capabilities let us get really creative. Nothing is impossible with Lou Mannarino."

In the lounge, which doubles as a disco and dance floor, Bespoke installed two Contour CT28 point sources, additional C6s, and SUB215 subwoofers to deliver the punch and clarity needed for a nightlife environment. "It sounds phenomenal," Ayache comments.

The system is powered by Powersoft Quattrocanalis and Duecanalis amplifiers. Ayache notes he has installed hundreds of Powersoft amps, with only one ever failing -- after a direct lightning strike. Control is provided via Crestron's CP4.

Reach Hospitality gave us tremendous creative freedom while still holding a clear vision," Ayache concludes. "EVELYN is a perfect showcase of what can happen when sound is treated as a top priority. We're already working on two more projects with them, and of course, they'll feature 1 SOUND solutions."
