The Movement Theatre Company has opened the virtual gallery1MOVE: DES19NED BY... virtual gallery, featuring the work of 15 commissioned emerging designers. Off Broadway's Ma-Yi Theater Company honors the life and work of Filipino cultural activist and performance artist Carlos Celdran (1972-2019) by streaming his celebrated one-man show Livin' La Vida Imelda. Running online June 17 - 30, Livin' La Vida Imelda takes a look at the inimitable life of one the world's most extravagant personalities, Imelda Marcos, the wildly controversial former First Lady of the Philippines. NY Classical Theatre will present a free virtual zoom reading of William Shakespeare's King Lear on Thursday, June 25 at 8:00pm, as a fundraiser for an intended full production later this year. The rehearsed virtual reading, adapted and directed by artistic director Stephen Burdman, will utilize the "happy ending" of Nahum Tate's 1681 adaptation, which was popular in England for over 150 years, until Shakespeare's original tragic text was restored in 1838. The Tate version of King Lear has not been performed in New York City in over 30 years. In its full production, NY Classical intends to stage Shakespeare's and Tate's versions on alternate nights.

The original Off-Broadway cast of Donja R. Love's one in two will reunite for a livestream presentation of the play June 12 at 7:00pm on Playbill.com/PridePlays. Jamyl Dobson, Leland Fowler, and Edward Mawaere will repeat their roles in this provocative and informative drama about black men coping with HIV. It was acclaimed when presented by The New Group last November.
