PLASA AGM Unveils Strategic Aims

PLASA returns to 195 Piccadilly -- the iconic home of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts -- on Thursday, May 30, for its 2013 European annual general meeting (AGM). Over 200 members and guests are anticipated at the event, which will include a review of the achievements of the last 12 months and an outline of PLASA's aims for future development.

The AGM is of great significance to the association and the ideal occasion for every member to ensure that his or her voice is heard. It is this feedback that enables PLASA to react positively to the changes and challenges that members face in order to act effectively on their behalf.

Important decisions were made through 2012 to support and safeguard PLASA's future including moving the PLASA Show to Excel London, investing in new software which will provide members with new self-service features and enable much easier participation in association activities, and devoting considerable time to building strong relationships with other key organizations for the benefit of members worldwide.

The PLASA members' lunch following the AGM is a popular fixture in the association calendar and will once again be held in the elegant David Lean Room following pre-lunch drinks with special guests. Tony Benn, Michael Portillo, and Bruce Dickinson are just three of the after-lunch speakers enjoyed by past attendees and this year it's the turn of freelance broadcaster and writer, John Sergeant.

Sergeant has had a prolific and varied career with many unforgettable moments. He effortlessly combines his job as a well-regarded political journalist with frequent guest appearances on light entertainment shows. Unsurprisingly, Sergeant is in great demand as an after-dinner speaker and as a presenter of awards, and appeared, to great public response, on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing in 2008.

"The 2013 AGM will be the launch pad for PLASA's Global Strategic Plan. This is the culmination of months of constructive work involving members, staff, Regional Boards and Governing Body," says Matthew Griffiths, PLASA's CEO, "and we are actively encouraging as many members as possible to come along to what promises to be an informative day."
