Chauvet Professional Unveils Legend 412Z RGBW Moving Head

Chauvet Professional's Legend 412Z moving head luminaire

Chauvet Professional has taken a popular moving head series into its next generation of performance and versatility with the Legend 412Z, a compact LED wash fixture that features a wide-ranging 8- to 33-degree zoom. Like the company's top-selling original Legend 412, the new Legend 412Z is a multi-function unit that produces intense, smoothly-blended color washes via 12 powerful 10W Quad-Color RGBW LEDs, while offering the added feature of individual zone control to create dynamic chases and pixel-mapping eye candy.

The new Legend 412Z includes some added enhancements, a main one being its versatile zoom feature. The flexibility to create beams at angles ranging from 8- to 33-degrees gives lighting professionals more options for using this fixture in different ways at a variety of events and venues. For example, it can function as a wide-angle wash in a small ballroom with a throw of only 15', or be tightened up to an 8-degree angle for throwing a more concentrated beam 40' at a concert.

Along with the versatility of its zoom, the Legend 412Z revs up the lighting excitement with fast pan/tilt movement. Its colors and effects can race around a room, thanks to a newly-designed speed system that optimizes the potential of each of its components.

"This exciting new addition to our Legend 412 Series represents the next evolution in moving head washes," said Mike Graham, product manager for Chauvet Professional. "Today's lighting professionals want fixtures that are compact and energy efficient, yet continue to offer increasingly enhanced performance and greater versatility, the Legend 412Z certainly delivers on this request with its new zoom and advanced speed system."

"At the same time, we've kept the features that made the original Legend 412 so successful," added Graham. "For example, the new model has zone control and built-in pixel and strobe patterns, so you can create exciting effects just as you can with its predecessor."

The Legend 412Z also delivers the punchy light output associated with the series. At 5m, its illuminance ranges from a brilliant 3,880 lux at an 8-degree beam angle, to 330 lux at a full 33-degree angle.

Ideal for a wide range of applications -- including concerts, nightclubs, theaters, houses of worship, corporate events, and live productions of all types -- the Legend 412Z's flicker-free operation also makes it an option as a broadcast/film light. Great for touring and travel, its trim weight (16.6lb / 7.5kg) and compact size (7.2" x 10.3" x 13.3" / 183 x 263 x 340mm) facilitate easy transport and setup.

With four DMX personalities to choose from (15-, 27-, 31-, or 34-channels), users have ample options for controlling the Legend 412Z. The unit includes three-pin and five-pin DMX in/out, as well as Neutrik powerCON power in/out, and features multi-voltage operation (100-240V, 50/60Hz). Up to nine Legend 412Z units can be linked together at 120V; 15 units at 208V; and 17 units at 230V. The Legend 412Z is CE approved, with MET certification pending.
