State Library Receives Wireless Upgrade Thanks to LumenRadio

The State Library of New South Wales is of the major locations on the Sydney tourist trail, having opened in 1910 thanks to funding from David Scott Mitchell. Its location in the heart of Sydney means that as well as housing one of Australia's premier collections of books, it is also the start of many of the cities sightseeing tours.

LumenRadio, working with Enttec and Sylvania Lighting Australia, provided a wireless control scheme to update the building facade lighting and add color controls, wireless monitoring and integration into the building LAN. Enttec supplied the LumenRadio products along with a selection of their Aleph product portfolio to the project, which installed during the heat of the Australian summer.

Steve Furzey, technical manager at Sylvania Lighting Australia says, "The LumenRadio products are well constructed, simple to setup, and easy to configure. In the State library, the transmitter is connected to the main frame computing system via a LAN network. We have transmitter-receivers going through 3 sets of railings which result in making a solid 'steel wall' in the 'line of sight' path, with an outdoor run of about 70 meters from the inside of the window to one of the receiver and we still get a 100% signal.

"For commercial applications, it is vital that the units work reliably 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in all weather conditions. LumenRadio's equipment has provided me with these very useful tools."

Nic Moreau, founder and general manager at Enttec, says, "This isn't the first time we've worked with LumenRadio and of course I'm ecstatic with the results on a job as prestigious as this. It's a pleasure to work with such a great bunch of people, too!"
