USITT 2015 Offers 20+ Hours of AIA For-Credit Sessions

USITT 2015 in Cincinnati is offering more architecture sessions carrying AIA/CES credit than ever -- with over a dozen sessions worth a total of 23.5 credit hours from the American Institute of Architects continuing education system.

USITT's 55th annual Conference & Stage Expo runs March 18 - 21 at Cincinnati's Duke Energy Convention Center. USITT's Architecture Commission received AIA approval for 15 continuing education sessions carrying the credits many states require for architects to maintain their licenses.

USITT considers theatre architecture to be an important discipline in the world of performing arts design and technology. Attending the USITT Conference is an economical way for architects to learn more about performance space design and earn many credits at one event. Registering by February 5 guarantees a low All-Conference rate of $396 for USITT members and $468 for non-members that covers all sessions.

Theatre Architecture sessions include:

• Immersive Environments: Audience and Performance Blending (2:30 - 4:00pm, March 18, 1.50 credits), a discussion of immersive design and theatre architecture, and a blend of opportunities for the audience and performance space to merge.
• Media-Tecture: How Projection is Animating Architecture (9:30 - 10:45am, March 19, 1.25 credits), explores how projection design is being used to bring movement and intrigue to the built environment.
• I'm Young, New, and Don't Want My Job to Hurt Me (1:00 - 2:30pm, March 19, 1.50 credits), addresses how to make theatre spaces as safe as possible for the people who work in them.
• Hey, Look What We Found! Engineering Challenges in Renovation and Adaptive Reuse Projects (6:00 - 7:15 p.m. March 18, 1.25 credits) explores strategies for anticipating challenges in renovation and adaptive reuse projects and examined case studies of how such challenges were managed and even celebrated.
• An Architectural Tour of Cincinnati (9:00am - 3:00pm, March 17), a pre-conference event on the Tuesday before the Conference opens, is worth 5 credit hours. It's an intimate walking tour of architectural performance spaces in Cincinnati's historic Over the Rhine neighborhood.
