Tony Award Winners Announced

The musical Hadestown and the drama The Ferryman were the big winners at last night Tony Awards, which honor achievement in the Broadway theatre. Both productions also did well in the design the categories. Hadestown, which took the award for best musical, also won for scenic designer Rachel Hauck, lighting designer Bradley King, and sound designers Nevin Steinberg and Jessica Paz. The award for costume design for a musical went to Bob Mackie, for his parade of diva outfits in The Cher Show. The Ferryman was cited as best play, as was Rob Howell for his scenic and costume design. The awards for lighting and sound design for a play went to Neil Austin for the newspaper drama Ink and Fitz Patton for Choir Boy. Altogether, Hadestown took eight awards and The Ferryman took four.
