2017 NAMM Show to Bring Best in Live Sound Education, Leadership in TEC Tracks Sessions

Professional live sound will take the spotlight at the 2017 NAMM Show with a dedicated track of seminars, panels, and education focusing on the world of touring audio. As part of the show's TEC Tracks programming, Live Sound Day (Thursday, January 19) will bring together the industry's top engineers, thought-leaders, and brands in sound reinforcement to discuss key industry topics, offer advice, and deliver training in a series of educational sessions.

Curating the Live Sound Day dedicated track will be respected monitor engineer and industry veteran Mark Frink. For the past three decades Frink has toured with dozens of artists including Tony Bennett, k.d. lang, Crystal Gayle, Marshall Crenshaw, Suzanne Vega, 10,000 Maniacs, the Three Tenors, Dr. John, and Joni Mitchell. He has also been a prominent voice in respected industry periodicals including Mix, Live Sound International and Front of House magazines.

"Pro audio makes NAMM its winter home each third week in January," said Frink. "This year we're opening the show with a day of special events dedicated to live sound's best people, practices, and products."

Frink will set the tone for the day by hosting a keynote panel featuring the world's best-known TEC Award-winning front-of-house engineers, each sharing their experiences and advice. The keynote will be followed by a robust line-up of sessions for the live sound professional, including Audio-Over-IP; Future-Proofing Wireless Microphone Inventory; Best use of DSP in Amplification; Tips for Easy Live Recording; Virtual Soundcheck; and How to Prepare for Multi-Act Festivals. As part of the programming, training will be offered on Rational Acoustics' SMAART DI software with a look at two-channel interfaces. These topics, along with a variety of sessions in recording and lighting, will be offered throughout the day and will conclude with a special networking event for all attendees.

"We have very big plans for how we're going to accommodate the growing live sound side of The NAMM Show, and it all starts in 2017 with TEC Tracks Live Sound Day," commented Zach Phillips, NAMM's director of professional development. "With the hottest industry topics, leading experts in the space, and the entire signal chain in products represented across the NAMM Show floor, there's something for everyone involved in live sound."

"More and more live sound professionals are seeing NAMM as an important place to be," shared David Schwartz, TEC Tracks producer and industry veteran. "I'm thrilled that we are able to bring many of the industry's top professionals together in a day-long intensive to advance the live sound community at NAMM."

TEC Tracks takes place annually as part of The NAMM Show, held January 19 - 22, 2017, at the Anaheim Convention Center. Notable participants include Meyer Sound, Midas, Yamaha Pro Audio Products, including Steinberg Recording Software, Renkus Heinz, JBL, Soundcraft, DiGiCo, and Electro-Voice, among many others.
