Change of Ownership at ARRI

Robert Arnold, the son of one of the co-founders of ARRI, is selling his 50 per cent share to the grandchildren of co-founders Richter/Stahl. Both families have shared responsibility for the company since it was founded 95 years ago.

The globally active company, previously run by both families, will now be in the sole responsibility of the Richter/Stahl family. The Stahl family has expressed its intention to continue pursuing the media business of ARRI in the Bavarian film and media industry as well as internationally.

ARRI has a global presence with offices in Australia, Canada, the USA, Italy, the UK, Hong Kong, and China (Beijing office opened in early 2012) and more than 50 service and support partners worldwide.

With the introduction of the ALEXA digital camera in 2010 and the current generation of LED L7 lighting fixtures, ARRI is actively involved with technological progress in the film industry. In addition, ARRI has a global network of rental offices in Munich, Berlin, Cologne, Leipzig, Los Angeles, New York, Miami, London, Vienna, Budapest, and Prague.

ARRI offers a full spectrum of services under the ARRI Media Services banner (ARRI Rental, ARRI Film & TV, ARRI Productions, and ARRI Worldsales), including project planning, equipment, on-set and near-set services, postproduction, archiving, and collaboration as co-production partner or global distributor.

ARRI was founded in 1917 with headquarters in Munich, Germany, Arnold and Richter Cine Technik (A&R) is the world's largest manufacturer and distributor of motion picture camera, digital intermediate (DI) and lighting equipment. The ARRI Group comprises a global network of subsidiaries, agents, and representatives that covers all aspects of the film industry, including design, engineering, production, equipment rental, turnkey lighting solutions, postproduction, film and sound laboratory services, and visual effects. Manufactured products include the ALEXA digital camera system, film cameras, professional camera accessories, LED lighting, and DI solutions such as ARRISCAN, and archive tools. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has recognized ARRI's engineers and their technical contributions with 18 Scientific and Engineering Awards.
