Number Nine is a Ten with E11EVEN Sound by DAS Audio

Sixteen DAS Audio Quantum Series Q43T compact column enclosures and eight DAS Audio OVI-12 12" coaxial speakers complete the system

Like most international capitals, Washington, DC is a vibrant and diverse city, with restaurants and nightlife to cater to everyone across the political and lifestyle spectrum. And while the city has long been home to a number of stoic old-school watering holes, it also boasts a vital and lively newer generation of establishments with a distinctly more modern flair.

DC's Logan Circle is one of many neighborhoods that has undergone a renaissance in recent decades, emerging as one of its more chic enclaves where hipsters and young professionals rub shoulders, and Number Nine has been a fixture in the heart of Logan Circle for well over a decade. The two-story, indoor-outdoor bar and nightclub has become a nexus for the city's LGBTQ+ community, with capacity crowds bending an elbow in its mirror-studded lounge, and upstairs at the shimmering video bar.

Co-founder Ed Bailey is no stranger to great sound, having cut his teeth as a DJ during the growth of the city's nightlife scene. Bailey and partner John Guggenmos were clear on exactly what they wanted when they were looking to update their current sound system, specifying a powerful sound system based around E11EVEN Sound by DAS Audio.

Designed by DAS Audio Hospitality and Nightclub national sales manager John Fiorito with equipment provided by Randy White of Washington Music Center, the system delivers powerful bottom end via 18 DAS Audio Q-10 compact subwoofers and two more E11EVEN Sound by DAS Audio ES212 dual 12" subs. Sixteen DAS Audio Quantum Series Q43T compact column enclosures and eight DAS Audio OVI-12 12" coaxial speakers complete the system, powered by four EP2K4 4-channel 600W amplifiers and four more EP6K4 4-channel 1,200W amps. The installation was completed by Guillermo "Willy" Rodriguez of Willy-Tech Services and Geovanni Ortiz of the DAS Audio application engineering team was brought in for tuning.

"We had first experienced the E11EVEN Sound by DAS Audio system in Miami and we knew immediately that this was the change we wanted for Number Nine," Guggenmos recounts. "Its clear, rich sound is immersive but not overpowering. People can feel the music and still enjoy a conversation. The experience is so compelling that we're putting DAS Audio into our upcoming venues as well. It's truly astounding -- hearing really is believing."
