The Long Reach Long Riders 2016 Charity Ride

The Long Reach Long Riders announce the dates and route for their next charity motorcycle ride. This year's ride, dubbed The Radioactive Ride, is all about New Mexico (plus a little Arizona, Utah, and Texas), the land of Billy the Kid, Georgia O'Keeffe, and J. Robert Oppenheimer. From sweeping desert vistas to painted mesas and majestic mountains, from the whimsical aliens of Roswell to the caverns of Carlsbad there is definitely something for everyone.

Loren Schreiber, Ride Marshal for the 2016 ride says, "Much of the ride is in a high desert environment. Average high temperatures for June range from the mid-60s to the mid-90s depending on where you are in New Mexico. Elevation will range from over 8,000' near Angel Fire to 2,800' around Carlsbad."

Previous Long Reach Long Rides have featured roads with names like "Tail of the Dragon" and "The Snake," which are famous for scores of challenging tight turns and uniformly green scenery. New Mexico will be different. Not only will there be challenging, twisting roads but there will also be sweeping turns along the base of the mountains and unrelentingly straight roads dropping down into massive valleys populated with painted mesas and ancient volcanoes, the company says.

Mark Heiser, Ride Marshal in 2015 says, "The camaraderie, on and off the road, is terrific. And while it's true that the ride is great fun, everyone remembers our primary mission; to raise money and awareness for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids and the Behind The Scenes program."

The 2016 Long Reach Long Rider ride begins on June 4th in Las Cruces, New Mexico and finishes back in Las Cruces on June 12th. Registration is now open for any who wish to sign up for the ride.
