JR Lighting Provides 100% LED Rig for Gucci Mane Comeback Show with DK Production Design

Rapper Gucci Mane recently made his grand comeback at The Fabulous Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia with production design by DK Production Design LLC and full lighting, audio, and video production support by JR Lighting Design, Inc. The star-studded production featured special appearances by Drake, Two Chainz, and Fetty Wap.

Production designer Daunte Kenner and lighting designer Brandon J. Clark from DK Production Design reached out to JR Lighting one week prior to the show (having previously worked together on the Tinashe World Tour).

Kenner and Clark selected a wide range of equipment from JR Lighting's inventory to achieve stunning, massive looks for the live-streamed event including Martin by Harman Mac Quantum Profiles, Martin Mac Auras, Elation Professional SixBAR 1000s, Elation SixPAR 100s, MA Lighting grandMA2 control, and Ultratec Special Effects Radiance Hazer Touring Systems. Kenner says, "We lucked out with JR Lighting because they have fixtures in their inventory that are both affordable and highly effective." JR Lighting president Jason Reberski notes, "Daunte and Brandon achieved a design that was on-budget and was very impactful -- it also turned into a lighting package that was 100% LED-based which helped with power and weight loading. The rig we provided consisted of (76) total lighting fixtures, but the DK team made it appear much larger with stellar programming and execution -- they are masters of their craft."

There were last-minute scenic changes from creative director Chris McGriff who originally staged a real helicopter and mausoleum as props. Kenner expands on how the lighting package aided with this aspect, "Our newest team member, Brandon J. Clark, was the lighting designer on this project, and he did not disappoint. The goal, in lieu of the chopper and mausoleum scenic pieces that were omitted, was to fill the void left by the truncated scenic." Kenner further adds, "JR Lighting's role as production support was superior. They delivered superior full-production service."

On the JR Lighting Design, Inc. team, director of operations Kevin Rosenhagen coordinated production support logistics and systems integration manager Justin Litterio was onsite to manage the integration of the lighting rig and serve as crew chief/master electrician.
