RCF Transducer Engineering Allows for Expansion of ART 700 Series

RCF's ART 700 Series

For nearly a decade, RCF has manufactured the flagship ART 700 Series of two-way polypropylene molded active speakers. The original series offered 10", 12", and 15" versions with a 1" neodymium high frequency compression driver.

Last year, RCF engineering took the series to the next level bringing to market a unique product in this category with the introduction of the ART745-A featuring a 15" low frequency woofer with a 4" voice coil high frequency compression driver. This allowed for the lowering of the crossover point between the transducers to 650Hz so almost all the vocal range would be produced by the high frequency driver thus better impulse response, fast waterfall decay, and superior efficiency.

Now, the company says RCF takes the series one step further with the introduction of the ART732-A and ART735-A. The 12" and 15" models feature a 1.4" exit, 3" voice coil neodymium high frequency compression driver achieving over 130dB maximum SPL. The low frequency transducers are designed to provide a linear response and a precise, deep low frequency control; and with a crossover point at 900Hz allows the high frequency transducer to produce a more accurate vocal intelligibility. The CMD matching of the transducers creates one of the most musical cabinets on the market today.

Transducer technology is a key strength to the clarity of sound these cabinets produce. "All our woofer and subwoofer designs are equipped with large sizes, properly-vented inside/outside voice coils," touts RCF engineering. This allows for 6-7dB more output, as well as smoothing out the sound characteristics of the cabinet in long-term performance applications. The inside/outside voice coil design allows for better heat dissipation and provides the best mechanical resistance for accurate sound reproduction. Precision neodymium magnet compression drivers offer advantages in system portability weight along with high frequency clarity with specific attention paid to magnetic circuit polarization for optimum thermal immunity and long-term program handling capability.

Cabinet design and functionality is another reason for the superior performance. The Reddot Design Award winning cabinets are designed to dampen down vibrations even at maximum volume settings. The reflex porting offers better frequency and pattern control. And the cabinets are equipped with ergonomically designed forged aluminum handles with rubber handgrips for portability, as well as equipped with pole mount cup for stand mounting, M10 flypoints for rigging, and angle cut on cabinet for use as a floor monitor.

The ART732-A and ART735-A are now shipping in the US.
