IATSE Local One, TCC, and Hudson Scenic to Present at NATEAC

Pete Donovan of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stagehands (IATSE) Local One, Robert Long of the Theatre Consultants Collaborative, and Neil Mazzella of Hudson Scenic will present a session at NATEAC titled Teaching the Old House New Tricks or Modern Engineering in old Broadway Theatres. The session will discuss the migration of theatres to Times Square and what it takes to move a modern day show into a theatre built in and designed for an entirely different era.

"People tend to forget how small Broadway theaters are", noted Donovan "and the challenges with putting a modern day, heavily automated production on one of these stages can be formidable." "The evolution of the Broadway stage is fascinating," added Robert, "and you can trace the emerging patterns in theater technology through the changes found in the Broadway houses."

The Modern Engineering in old Broadway Theaters session will join the 23 other sessions to be presented at the North American Theatre Engineering and Architecture Conference (NATEAC) on July 17 and 18 at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City. Reynold Levy, author and recent president of Lincoln Center will offer the keynote address and Tyler Kicera/TAIT and Raj Patel/ARUP will present the Plenary session. In addition, there are several networking events including a harbor cruise, conference dinner, and closing cocktail hour.

Registration at the regular rate of $775.00 will remain open until July 11. After July 11, the rate will increase to $850.00. For more details on all NATEAC events, please visit the link below.
