New Danley SM-80 Delivers Fidelity and Output on a Stick

Danley Sound Labs' SM-80

Danley introduces the SM-80, the latest in its SM-series of lightweight, cost-effective molded-horn loudspeakers. Tom Danley and the engineering team at Danley Sound Labs created the SM-80 for anyone who needs loud, and yet highly-articulate sound in a lightweight, portable package. The SM-80 weighs a mere 65lbs., a comfortable mass to perch atop a pole. Together with Danley TH-series subwoofers, a pair of pole-mounted SM-80s is the ideal solution for small to mid-sized live sound and installed sound applications. The company says its 80 x 80 coverage pattern, superior fidelity, and tremendous output power will meet the needs of many a venue, either used alone or as part of a larger Danley array.

The SM-80's frequency response extends from 110Hz to 20kHz with 102dB SPL sensitivity. Its continuous power rating is 400W in and 128dB SPL out, peaking at 1600W and 134dB SPL, respectively. Its single 12" coaxial driver and paired horn offer 8ohm impedance. Constructed out of 13-ply Baltic birch, the SM-80 measures 25.5" high by 24" wide by 12.75" deep.
