Available Light Announces Promotions and Additions to the Team

Edward Bartholomew, Hamilton Smith, Alex Fabozzi, Benjamin Wilson, and Lindsay N. Duvak, Available Light

Available Light is growing! Edward Bartholomew, LC, LEED AP, IES, IALD has joined the firm as a senior associate. Hamilton Smith, junior associate IALD and Alex Fabozzi, junior associate IALD have both been promoted to associates of the firm. Also joining Available Light are lighting designers Benjamin Wilson, junior associate IALD and Lindsay N. Duval, junior associate IALD.

Bartholomew joins Available Light with more than 25 years of architectural lighting design and lighting education experience. He has won numerous lighting design awards while developing performance-based sustainable lighting strategies. As a designer, he is focused on understanding client needs while analyzing site context with the end goal of illuminating inspiring environments. Bartholomew is a past professor of architectural lighting at the University of Washington. Most recently, he served as a lighting evangelist, developing energy efficiency lighting programs, practices, and trainings for National Grid, a Massachusetts utility. Bartholomew, an author of many articles in construction industry periodicals, holds a BFA in interdisciplinary arts from San Francisco State University and an MFA in architectural lighting design from Parsons School of Design.

"I am so happy to be returning to my lighting design roots! Both the remarkable variety of projects and the great people of this amazing team are what attracted me to Available Light," Bartholomew commented.

Smith joined Available Light after four years at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey followed by working the performing arts scene in New York City. Smith graduated with a BFA in theatre design from the University of Arizona; his work was featured at both the Arizona Repertory Theatre and the University of Arizona Opera Theatre. He is already heavily involved in all aspects of the Available Light portfolio, from special events and trade shows to museum exhibition and architecture.

New York native Fabozzi received his MFA in lighting design from NYU in 2014. In the succeeding years, he has served as lighting supervisor for Dance Theatre of Harlem -- touring across the US as well as internationally -- as well as designing for a variety of New York theater companies including La Mama, Apollo Theater, Center Stage, and 57th Street Theatre. He has also assisted a number of renowned designers including Robert Wiezel, Clifton Taylor, John McKernon, and Jan Versweyveld. Fabozzi is truly enjoying plying his years of theater lighting skills in architectural and museum exhibition projects.

Wilson comes to Available Light direct from receiving his MFA in lighting design for theater, architecture, and live entertainment from the California Institute of the Arts. Wilson is a multi-disciplinary designer whose talents are well-suited to the diverse Available Light portfolio.

Duval joins Available Light from the world of arena lighting design. Since graduating with a BFA in technical theatre from the University of Connecticut in 2016, she worked as a freelance Tteatrical electrician, served as master electrician for Southern Connecticut State University, and spent four years as both a lighting designer and technician at Mohegan Sun Casino.

"I'm grateful and humbled by the talented people who have chosen to make Available Light their professional home," says Steven Rosen, FIALD, president and creative director. "Being part of this burgeoning organization, collaborating with, and learning from each team member, whether designer or administrator is one of the great joys of my life. We are committed to sharing a single vision for delivering world class and high-performance lighting design to our clients and their constituents."
