"The Awards have gone from strength to strength over the years, and the quality of the entries is always high," says Christopher Knowlton. "I love to see and experience the way lighting designers from different disciplines work with the medium of light."

Jess Allan says, "From Metalcore to Orchestral EDM in Concerts, and the Military Tattoo to London Fashion Week in Events, the nominations showed a fantastic diversity, with designers adapting their craft for a broad range of clients, producing high-caliber work in every case. The quality of their work made it another tough year in the judge's deliberations.

"Thank you to our CT&E judging team who spent many an evening seeing shows in the flesh and then tirelessly reviewing all nomination assets and thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate a design, particularly the designers who self-nominated, who made up the vast majority of the nominations this year."

The winning designers will be announced at the 2018 ceremony and gala dinner, held at the Eventim Apollo on September 16.
