Peavey Electronics Celebrates 20 Years of Audio Innovation with MediaMatrix

Peavey Electronics celebrates the 20th anniversary of its MediaMatrix division -- the multi-faceted digital audio processing, distribution and control system for the professional audio industry. The company says Peavey created the distributed digital signal processing market in 1993 when it introduced the world's first graphically configured, programmed, and controlled digital audio network system. Over the last 20 years, MediaMatrix has expanded to meet and exceed the most stringent demands of contractors and integrators across the globe.

Today, MediaMatrix remains a capable, scalable, flexible, and specified digital audio distribution and processing system. First appearing within the US Senate Chamber, MediaMatrix systems can now be found in facilities including the Parliament Houses of China, Canada, New Zealand, Russia, and Germany, the Beijing "Bird's Nest" Olympic Stadium, the Qatar National Convention Center, and in over a quarter of the NFL stadia in North America. MediaMatrix solutions are used in airports, cruise ships, educational facilities, houses of worship, theme parks, convention centers, casinos, resorts, and hotels around the world.

"Twenty years ago, we launched MediaMatrix as the world's first computer-based audio processing and control network, which revolutionized commercial sound installation," commented Hartley Peavey, founder and CEO of Peavey Electronics. "Since that time, MediaMatrix systems have provided solutions for more than 10,000 venues around the world. As we evolve the MediaMatrix platform, our customers' feedback assures that we continue to engineer and offer the most advanced digital audio solutions on the market. Peavey Commercial Audio continues to be an industry leader, in our scope and our innovation."

Encompassing more than 70 products, MediaMatrix provides the designer, consultant, and integrator an entire palette of tools to create the system they envision. The NWare programming software provides a graphical design environment in which the designer can choose, drag, and drop programming blocks, connect them virtually, extract control interfaces, and then compile their design into an actual, fully functional audio processing, distribution, and control network. MediaMatrix can easily scale from smaller, rack mounted systems with a few inputs and outputs to large enterprise systems incorporating thousands of inputs and outputs. Audio and control signals are conducted via Ethernet networking utilizing advanced digital audio transport protocols such as CobraNet and Audinate's Dante.

MediaMatrix has received a variety of accolades during its first 20 years of service, and was honored most recently with the 2012 Audio Installation of the Year AV Award for the extensive installation at the Qatar National Convention Center. This world-class meeting space was the first of its kind, built to the gold certification of the US Green Building Council's "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design" (LEED).
