Outline Presents iSM Powered Stage Monitors with iMode Technology at InfoComm

Outline presented the new iSM line of powered stage monitor speakers with iMode Technology at InfoComm 2011. As successor to the company's H.A.R.D. series of self-powered floor monitors, the iSM series, featuring the iSM 112, iSM 115, and iSM 212, delivers greater sonic quality, higher SPL, and full remote control of speaker parameters through Outline's integrated iMode Intelligent Digital Loudspeaker control platform, the company says.

The iSM Series is designed for the floor monitoring needs of fixed or touring applications including music performances of all styles, theatre presentations, house-of-worship installations and, especially TV production situations where a super-low-profile cabinet design is of paramount interest.

"The new iSM self-powered stage monitors are truly a game changing design for the industry," says Tom Bensen, senior vice-president and managing director of Outline North America. "The three iSM models deliver enhanced performance over the industry standard H.A.R.D. floor monitors. The addition of Outline's advanced iMode Technology brings iSM to a whole new level by integrating a CPU with dedicated DSP chip, parameter control software and Web server right into the cabinet. Engineers can now precisely tune each cabinet and store the data for recall, eliminating the need for outboard EQs between the console and the amplifier."

The iSM Series is powered by embedded advanced technology amplifiers that deliver excellent sound quality and high power in an extremely light-weight design, the company says. Each cabinet features Outline's iMode technology for complete parameter control via a web browser and an LED array on both sides of each cabinet for clear visual information as to the status of the main parameters or selected pre-sets. All cabinets are fitted with eight mounting points for wheels or flying rings, plus two integrated recessed handles for easy management. All cabinets are extremely sturdy, non-resonant designs constructed from high-quality, void-free Baltic birch that can withstand the rigors of the road. The series is suitable for all monitoring applications delivering an impressively linear response of just +/- 3 dB between 76Hz and 15.5kHz, and an extremely linear phase response of just ± 45° between 500Hz and 16kHz.

The iSM 112, a dual-angle, full frequency wedge monitor loudspeaker, features a " woofer and 1.4" high frequency driver to deliver up to 132dB SPL. The patented folded wave guide in the cabinet provides tight and consistent control of the high frequency spectrum in both the horizontal and vertical planes, maximizing gain before feedback. Designed primarily for stage monitoring applications, the internal amplifiers deliver 500W and 270W into the LF and HF sections respectively. The external dimensions are extremely compact, particularly the vertical height which is just 14". This very low profile considerably reduces the visual impact when the enclosure is positioned between the performers and the audience.

The iSM 115, a self-powered, DSP-controlled, full-range loudspeaker designed primarily for stage monitoring applications, features internal amplifiers that deliver 750W and 400W into the LF and HF sections respectively to yield a maximum SPL of 137 dB at one meter. Low frequencies are reproduced by a single " reflex-loaded, four-Ohm transducer and the high frequencies are covered by a 1.4" throat compression driver fitted with a 2.5" titanium diaphragm. The patented integrated folded wave guide provides tight and consistent control of the high frequency spectrum in both the horizontal and vertical planes, achieving the defined pattern control that is necessary for professional floor monitors. The dimensions are extremely compact with a vertical height of just 15.6" for an audience-friendly design that greatly reduces the visual impact of the cabinet.

The iSM 212 is a self-powered, DSP-controlled, full-range loudspeaker designed primarily for stage monitoring applications. Its internal amplifiers deliver 1,050W and 570W into the LF and HF sections respectively for a maximum SPL of 140 dB at one meter. Low frequencies are reproduced by a pair of 12" reflex-loaded transducers, with the high frequencies handled by a 1.4" throat compression driver fitted with a three-inch titanium diaphragm. The patented, integrated folded wave guide provides tight and consistent control of the high frequency spectrum in both the horizontal and vertical planes, achieving the defined pattern control that maximizes gain before feedback. The extremely compact design, with a vertical height of just 12.8" offers greatly reduced line of sight between audience and performers and makes the cabinet ideal for television applications.
