Pro Audio Partners Embrace AudioLab at PLASA London 2013

PLASA London 2013, which takes place at ExCeL London from October 6 - 9, 2013, is pleased to announce specialist asset finance company Medialease as the sponsor for the AudioLab Arena, while eight new partners will also share their technology and expertise in the AudioLab Arena.

The AudioLab Arena, AudioLab Theatre, and AudioLab Interactive, unveiled earlier this year, offer free educational sessions, demonstrations, and interactive experiments giving visitors a glimpse of the technology behind the world's most spectacular live shows and venues.

"The PLASA show is a great opportunity to meet so many audio and lighting professionals under one roof. The exciting new AudioLab Arena offers a new demo and product selection experience, which we expect to be second to none. It gives users the chance to compare the latest technology in an innovative and engaging environment, which we fully support" said Paul Robson, managing director, Medialease.

The AudioLab Arena features product demonstrations segmented into three specialist categories -- large format systems, club sound, and mobile systems. Visitors will be able to experience systems from exhibitors including Adam Hall, FBT Audio, Flare, KV2, LAX, Line 6, Norton, OHM, and Pioneer across all three categories.

In 2012 the show delivered free education and training to over 6,500 people from 65 countries worldwide. Continuing its commitment to free education, this year PLASA London presents three new streams of content: live sound, installed sound, and the sound business which will examine key issues and business initiatives.

AudioLab Interactive, the third and most experimental element of AudioLab, is a laboratory designed to test pro audio theory and challenge our knowledge and understanding of key issues while pushing technology to its limits.

AudioLab continues to grow, with new sessions added to the program this week:
• "Glastonbury 2013" -- join the team behind the famous Arcadia stage to delve into the creative and technical vision behind the UK's most cutting edge festival show.
• "Demystifying Audio Techniques" -- d&b audiotechnik utilize visual experiments and practical demonstrations to expand your knowledge of the basic principles of electroacoustics. Discover what happens to sound as it travels from the loudspeaker to the listener, how the room affects what we hear and what you can do to improve it.
• RG Jones present "Everything you know is wrong" -- Renowned live sound engineer Simon Honywill shares his thoughts on the latest developments in loudspeaker design. This eye opening session will leave you questioning what you thought you knew!

Not to be missed experiments in AudioLab Interactive: include:
• "Aural athletics; do you trust your ears?" -- A sound engineer's ears are their greatest asset, the AudioLab Interactive will put yours through their paces.
• "Network shootout" -- The team will push networks to their limits and let you decide which is up to the task. Exclusive sneak peak of AES67 (X192), the 0 negative of audio networks.
• "Does network latency really cause problems?" -- What happens when you put a drummer in a room with a completely digital system and a bunch of sound engineers. Can we mess up his performance?

Chris Toulmin, head of events, PLASA London 2013, said, "It's fantastic to see these pioneering audio companies embrace the ethos of AudioLab so enthusiastically. The theatre will see the brightest and best audio engineers freely sharing their knowledge and experiences, and in the interactive section we have some exciting experiments set up that are designed to test pro audio theory and really push the boundaries of what this equipment is capable of."

The main equipment sponsors within AudioLab are Peavey, QSC, Shure, and Yamaha, while the cable sponsor is VDC. PLASA London is also grateful for the assistance of ALC Networx, COMS, E-Mech, Optocore, RG Jones, and SGSA.
