CITT/ICTS Appoints New Executive Director

Jacquie Lazar

The Canadian Institute for Theatre Technology/Institut canadien des technologies scénographiques (CITT/ICTS) announces that Jacquie Lazar has taken over the reigns as new executive director.

Lazar brings over 20 years of professional experience working in the theatre and live entertainment industry. Her career path has included numerous appointments including front of house manager, head electrician, assistant technical director, technical director, production manager, and theatre manager. Highlights of her extensive career include many seasons working as the head electrician at Young People's Theatre and serving as the technical director and theatre coordinator for St. Andrew's College. The latter of which brought accomplishments that included flying students with the Foy flying system in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream and being part of the producing team that brought An Andrean Christmas to the Roy Thompson Hall stage.

Lazar spent six years at York University as the Manager of Performance Facilities for the Faculty of the Arts, Media, Performance and Design, where she managed two theatres, along with several other ancillary artistic spaces. During her tenure at York University, she initiated, with the support of the dedicated theatre staff, major technical upgrades to the artistic spaces including procuring and installing state of the art LED theatrical and house lights. Jacquie also serves as the Chair of the Board for Shadowpath Theatre Productions, a not-for-profit theatre company based out of York Region, whose mandate is to transform everyday spaces into creative places for suburban audiences.

In her spare time Lazar can be found walking her dog, Skye, enjoying the great outdoors, and reading great books.

Jacquie Lazar can be reached at jlazar@citt.org.

The organization would like to thank outgoing national coordinator, Monique Corbeil, for her 19 years of service. She remains with CITT/ICTS as EXPO-SCÈNE's coordinator and oversees the next edition to be held at the Palais des congrès de Montréal in April 2024.
