Lightpower Collection Presents Neal Preston's In the Eye of the Rock'n'Roll Hurricane at PLASA 2018

Some of Neal Preston's photographs exhibited in Frankfurt at Prolight + Sound 2018

When it comes to rock 'n' roll photography, Neal Preston is the most outstanding photographer in the live and documentary genre. During a career that spans more than 40 years, he has built up the most extensive body of work in rock 'n' roll history: from Alice Cooper to Frank Zappa, from Led Zeppelin to Queen -- he has had all the greats in front of his camera. The pictures taken during this time show an attitude to life as well as the excitement on and off the stage.

His work forms the core of the Lightpower Collection of rock 'n' roll photography and cover art -- a collection born out of a company culture with a passion for collecting rock 'n' roll art.

For the past four years, the Lightpower Collection has toured worldwide with In the Eye of the Rock 'n' Roll Hurricane, an exhibition which shows the body of Preston's work. In it are more than 70 of his iconic pictures: legendary album covers, views behind the scenes, moments that made history -- the essence of rock 'n' roll and concert touring that has dominated out industry since the late '60s.

Now it is PLASA's turn to proudly present a fine selection from the Lightpower Collection which honors and celebrates those legends in the limelight, while returning something to those who worked hard in the background to make this all happen.

Neal Preston's fine art prints are highly sought after by collectors worldwide, and all proceeds from Lightpower Collection sales go to Behind the Scenes and Backup, foundations that provide relief for event technicians in need.

The exhibition has already been enthusiastically received by visitors to the Montreux Jazz Festival, Ldi in Las Vegas, LLB in Stockholm, and Musikmesse in Frankfurt. "The UK has always been a massive source and host of live music with many great international bands hailing from there, and plenty of iconic venues," says Lightpower Collection's owner, Ralph-Jorg Wezorke. "To bring this exhibition to PLASA London is a fabulous opportunity to showcase some of those legends to an audience who understand its origins from the roots up. A special thanks to PLASA and Ambersphere for inviting and supporting us, and enabling us to support these important charities."

Some of Preston's photographs will also be exhibited at the Knight of Illumination Awards on September 16 in London's Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith.

Lightpower was founded in 1978 in Germany as a lighting rental company. Since then Lightpower has grown to be an internationally established distributor for stage and studio lighting equipment. The Lightpower Collection curates and produces exhibition concepts and provides artworks for events. All income from the sale of fine art prints and merchandise will be donated to Behind the Scenes and Backup - The Technical Entertainment Industry Charity.
