David Flad Lights Historic Belasco Theatre with Gear from 4Wall LA

David Flad, of Q1 Designs, recently teamed with 4Wall Los Angeles to light the interior of downtown LA's historic Belasco Theatre. The lighting design and implementation was one of the final stages of the three year renovation of the 80-year-old venue.

Set in a central location not far from Staples Center and other LA hotspots; the Belasco is primed to attract a variety of entertainment events. The challenge for Flad and his team was in making sure the lighting was ready for every use imaginable.

e "The Belasco is a true multi-purpose venue," said Flad, "In designing and choosing gear we had to take into account that the space can be used for anything from upscale nightclub scenes and parties to movie premiers and formal ballroom events."

In anticipation of the variety of events, Flad chose a variety of fixture types from 4Wall Rentals to accommodate anyone inhabiting the Belasco. His equipment list included Vari-Lite VL3000 Spots, Martin Pro Mac 700 Profiles and Washes, and ETC Source 4 PARs and Lekos.

Flad spoke of 4Wall's involvement, saying, "We could not have pulled off getting this package into the Belasco without the help of 4Wall. They worked with our budget to ensure we had everything we needed at the right price."

Already the Belasco has hosted the premier of the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar documentary On the Shoulders of Giants, and the venue figures to host many more upcoming Los Angeles events and attractions.
